POST-GAME ANALYSIS

Carter George vs. Anaheim Ducks (Preseason) - 9/21

Grade: 106

Carter George is already being dubbed "King George." But, "Ol' Reliable" may be a more descriptive nickname. Throughout this contest, George was a cool customer and made everything look effortless. Yes, part of that is his calm demeanor and his general style of play. The other part is the trust he shows in his skaters to do their part. When he moves, you hardly notice it. ...You ever see the show Blue Mountain State? You know the episode where Alex tries out for the school hockey team to be the backup goaltender, and he just stands still in net? That's George; minus the puck-going-in-on-every-shot part. When he does show quickness and athleticism, you want to see more of it. He's got a fast glove and did the splits a couple times. That said, he's wise for not giving more than is necessary. - Keith Fries

POST-GAME ANALYSIS

Jacob Moverare vs. Anaheim Ducks (Preseason) - 9/21

Grade: 80

Jacob Moverare played a solid defensive game and showed some nice offensive flashes. He was a safety blanket on the backend when his linemates were up in the play. Showed good puck control and made wise passes. Very good job moving the puck between himself and his D partner; who, in this outing, was Brandt Clarke. Moverare has widely been considered LA's seventh-Defenseman over the years. With the additions of Cody Ceci and Brian Dumoulin, Moverare's spot could be in jeopardy depending on final roster decisions. That said, he and Clarke were a formidable duo and could prove fruitful as a third-pairing, in LA, if the coaching staff elects to use a veteran presence in their top-two-pairings. Multiple shifts on the first Penalty Kill unit - during one of those PKs he had two shifts. Don't sleep on Moverare's abilities as a passer. For a team lauding their recent additions on the blue line and their puck moving, Moverare showed he could certainly fit that bill. There's also a lot of power coming off his slap shot. The coaching staff should work with him to control his shooting accuracy and they could add a half-dozen goals to their season total. - Keith Fries
